Most floor damage we are called to fix was caused by cleaning, not by wear — too much water on laminate, the wrong product on sealed hardwood, an abrasive pad on a vinyl plank. We match the method to the material: damp-mop and dry on wood and laminate, a neutral cleaner on tile with the grout worked separately, and vacuum-then-spot on carpet. Furniture is treated the same way, with upholstery vacuumed and wood dusted and conditioned rather than soaked.
